WATER HEATER BUYING TIPS:
Take a good look at electric water heaters. Standard models are safe, clean and efficient. There is no open-flame or exposure to gas by-products such as carbon monoxide.
Consider capacity. Keep your family in hot water by getting a large enough unit.
Remember the energy rating. The higher this number is, the better the unit will be for your use. When it comes to efficiency, remember the real savings start on units with an energy rating of .91 and higher.
Don’t discard the idea of using new technology. Lifetime warranted water heaters and heat pump water heaters may cost more on the front end; however, they can save energy and pay for themselves over the life of the unit.
When switching from a gas to electric water heater, rebates may apply. Contact MLEC for details.
