Power Pole Inspections- Humphreys County
November 1, 2023) — Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative will conduct power pole inspections in Humphreys County starting November 13. Crews will take about six weeks to evaluate infrastructure and identify any equipment that may need repairs. Power poles located south of Waverly and around New Johnsonville will be targeted:
- From the southern Waverly city limit down Highway 13 to Hunter Paradise Lane
- West Blue Creek Road, Weed Lane, Pumpkin Creek Road, Buchanon Road, Old Highway 13, Hurricane Creek Road, Hurricane Mills Road, Burned House Road, Stewart Branch Road, Dogwood Road and other connecting secondary roads.
- New Johnsonville city limits, Highway 70 from Scepter Road to New Johnsonville, Paint Rock Road, Box Hollow Road, Old State Route 1, Mill Road, Crockett Road, Pump Station Road, Old Johnsonville Road, Flatwood Road, Neil Beard Road and other connecting secondary roads.
“The process will allow MLEC to identify and correct problems such as weakened or broken poles before they create an outage,” says MLEC System Engineer Brent Warf. “The proactive work helps control costs as well as limiting outages for members.”
Contractors from Power Pole Maintenance will be driving trucks properly identified with their company logo and “MLEC Contractor” decals. Employees will also have ID cards verifying their association with MLEC. The evaluation typically takes a few minutes with some occasional photographs for documentation. The home or business owner does not need to be present since the work is conducted outside.
“MLEC only selects trusted contractors to conduct power pole inspections,” says MLEC President and CEO Keith Carnahan. “Crews will be wearing yellow vests and company logos, so members can identify workers that may enter their property.”
MLEC conducts pole inspections across its five-county service area (Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lewis and Perry counties) on a rotational basis. A full map outlining the inspection area can be found under the info map at www.mlec.com.
