Wind Causes Power Outages

Sunday | March 5, 2023
All News

(March 5, 2023 – 10 a.m.) —   Power outage numbers in the Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative area are down to 2000, but it is the people that this represents that we are committed to serve.  Crews started early with a mission to make more progress today. As they finish one location, they will move to the next, but some areas include:

Hickman – Pinewood, Hidden Valley, Trace Creek, Lowes Branch, Mason Bates Road, McClannahan Road, Bruce McCaleb Road, Maddox Road, Old Trace, Totty’s Lane, Dunlap Road, Milan Branch, Old Swan Loop, West Beaverdam, Fort Cooper, Primm Springs, Mayberry Road, Old Mill Creek, Bells Branch, Taylor Creek, Wesley Ridge, Sanders Road, and Buck Litton Road.

Houston – Green Shanty, Mitchell Road, Ross Branch, Campground Road, Cooley Ford, Hurricane Creek Road, Freeman Fielder Road and others.

Humphreys – Schrock Road, White Oak, Poplar Grove, Bakerville Road, Cuba Landing, Erin Road, Hells Neck, Squeeze Bottom, Richland Harbor, and Turkey Creek among others.

Repairs could take a couple of more days for some areas. Lewis and Perry have returned to normal operations except for a few individual services where repairs are need at the residence before we can restore service.

“Being without power is an inconvenience, and we apologize for the disruption it has on the lives of our members,” says MLEC President and CEO Keith Carnahan. “Repairing this much extensive, widespread damage is a lengthy, dangerous job. With the help of fellow cooperatives from Arkansas and contractors, we have about 40 additional linemen working to serve our members. It is an honor to serve you alongside them. Thank you for your understanding as we work as quickly and safely as possible.”

Broadband is also important and MLConnect fiber crews are working on repairs as well in locations where power has been restored. If you are an MLConnect customer and power has returned but Internet has not, unplug the router from the power source for a few minutes instead of using the reset button. If this does not restore service, submit a ticket online at mlconnect.com using the Support Portal tab. You can also call your local MLEC office; press OPTION 3, then OPTION 2 for tech support.

MLEC is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric utility that serves more than 35,000 meters in Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lewis and Perry counties. We are helping build brighter futures and make connections possible for those we serve. Learn more at mlec.com.
