(July 16, 2020 – Centerville, TN) —Power Pole Maintenance Company is conducting electric pole inspections in Hickman County on behalf of Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative. The project, intended to help increase electric service reliability by checking pole health, will take approximately four months to complete.
It involves all locations, such as Tottys Bend, Nunnelly, Pinewood, Leatherwood, Middle Lick Creek Road, etc. receiving service from the MLEC substation at Hilltop. A map is available HERE.
“Identifying and correcting problems such as weakened or broken poles before they create an outage goes a long way in controlling costs and keeping the lights on,” says MLEC System Engineer Brent Warf.
Power Pole Maintenance Company will be in vehicles with an “MLEC Contractor” logo and carry identification cards. The evaluation typically takes a few minutes with some occasional photographs for documentation. The home or business owner does not need to be present, and MLEC will never ask to enter the home.
“With almost daily news stories of scams and break-ins, we want our members to know we understand their questions and cautions when someone unfamiliar comes to their property,” says MLEC President and CEO Keith Carnahan. “We encourage everyone to contact their local MLEC office whenever there is a question.”
MLEC is a member-owned, not-for-profit electric utility that serves more than 35,000 meters in Hickman, Houston, Humphreys, Lewis and Perry counties. ###
