OCTOBER 26 UPDATE: Due to wet ground conditions following rain the last few days, vehicles will not be able to park on the grass at the Centerville River Park. MLEC will have some chairs available (spaced appropriately) for guests to use. Members who wish to stay in their vehicle will have to remain in the parking lot. Those getting outside of their vehicle are encouraged to have a face covering available if you are unable to social distance while being seated or returning to your car.
(October 21, 2020) — Due to COVID-19 precautions, Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative is holding an annual meeting business session only this year instead of individual district meetings in each of its five counties. The meeting will take place October 27, 2020, at the Centerville River Park in Hickman County at 11 a.m.
To limit contact and safeguard against spreading the virus with hand-to-hand contact, there will be no registration or prizes.
Those attending are asked to stay inside their vehicle during the event. SEE UPDATE ABOVE
“This was a difficult decision for many reasons,” says MLEC President and CEO Keith Carnahan. “But, the safety and health of our communities, members and employees is most important. We will miss gathering at local high schools, recognizing poster contest and scholarship winners, and spending time one-on-one with our members, but it is the right thing to do.”
District meetings are held for the purpose of electing members to the MLEC Board of Directors. However, only one term expired this year (Andy Porch of Humphreys County), and no other members besides Porch filed to run in the election; therefore, he is duly elected. The annual meeting business session will include reports by MLEC officers and last approximately 30 minutes.
In the event of inclement weather, an alternate date of October 29 was selected. Watch MLEC’s website, Facebook and Twitter for schedule change announcements.
